I saw a garden gnome in my restroom?

When i was little like 4 or 5 i was trying to go to the restroom, and there was one on top of my shower, just looking at me. Smiling, evilly. I just stood there looking at it like what the f***. After i told my mom and stuff, but how did it get there, and are they real.? cause if they are i want one! but tell me more about them! Thnxs!
