How to become a vegetarian?

First off i have a valid reason so you dont start asking about that.Morals i mean the poor animals! Now any steps i have tried before but i just cant do it. Ive started back up today so far i have only included crab and some dairy. Though can you be a vegetarian and eat dairy? Or is not being able to eat dairy only with vegan? Any way. Any tips?
